About Enviromax Asbestos

Enviromax Asbestos Consulting is a Surrey, British Columbia–based environmental consulting company providing services throughout the province, including the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Okanagan, Vancouver Island, and other remote areas of British Columbia.

With over 10 years of industry experience, we specialize in asbestos and lead testing, risk assessments, air monitoring for asbestos abatement projects, and post-abatement air clearance. Our goal is to help contractors, property owners, and project managers identify hazardous materials before renovation or demolition begins, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protecting workers and occupants.

All samples are analyzed at our AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) accredited laboratory (Lab #1129356) to ensure accurate and reliable results.

At Enviromax Asbestos Consulting, we are committed to providing professional assessments and trusted environmental consulting services to support safe renovation, demolition, and construction practices.

WHAT IS ASBESTOS?

Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring fibrous minerals that were widely used in building materials in British Columbia from the 1950s until the early 1990s. Its heat resistance, strength, and insulating properties made it popular in thousands of products — from insulation and floor tiles to drywall compounds and roofing materials.

Under the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, materials that contain asbestos or are made with asbestos fibres are treated as “hazardous materials,” especially when they may be handled, disturbed or removed during demolition, renovation or repair work.

Health effects linked to asbestos exposure include:
Asbestosis

A chronic, progressive lung disease that scars lung tissue and impairs breathing.

Lung cancer

Risk increases substantially with combined exposure and smoking.

Mesothelioma

A rare but aggressive cancer of the lining of the lungs and abdomen, caused almost exclusively by asbestos exposure.

Pleural diseases

a rare but aggressive cancer of the lining of the lungs and abdomen, caused almost exclusively by asbestos exposure.

💡 Important: Symptoms often take many years (10–40+) to appear after initial exposure. Because of this latency, asbestos-related diseases are often only diagnosed decades later — long after the first exposure occurred.

Working Process
How We Ensure Safety
  • Inspection & Assessment

Our certified experts conduct a thorough site inspection to identify potential asbestos hazards. We collect samples for testing in an accredited laboratory.

  • Professional Testing & Analysis

Using advanced techniques, our AIHA PAT-accredited lab (Lab #1129356) tests for asbestos, lead, and air quality to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Safe Abatement & Air Monitoring

If asbestos is present, we implement a controlled removal process with real-time air monitoring to minimize airborne fiber exposure.

  • Final Clearance & Certification

After removal, we conduct clearance testing to confirm safe air quality. A detailed report and clearance certificate are provided for your records.
